Tuesday 24th January 2012

Do you have an android device, an iPad or iPhone and are overwhelmed by the amount of apps available to you? Fair enough. After all, there are almost 8000 apps in Apple's Business section alone and there is a whopping 22000 under the umbrella of Education!

So you can make the most of your smartphone or tablet, staff members from both our IT and Design teams at Joyer want to share with you their favourite apps.

For: iPad
What does it do: Great note taking tool with a nice clean user interface, shape auto detect, voice recording and fantastic handwriting recognition. Version 3.0 was released this month with some great new features along with some pesky bugs. When v3.0.1 is released and the bugs are fixed, this app will become my standard note taking tool for meetings.

For: iPad and iPhone
What does it do: For me it’s the most natural and intuitive painting programme, where you can just get on with it and not be digging around looking for tools. Main reason for the ipad purchase.

Jason says: 2x RDP client
For: iPad, iPhone and Android
What does it do: 2x App gives you the ability to remotely access Servers and personal computers setup for remote access using Microsoft RDP or a 2X Virtual desktop environment (similar to Terminal services, Citrix etc). The app is available for Apple IOS devices and Android devices. Not only is it free, it's quick and also has a great way of implementing right mouse clicks. If you need remote access to a server or desktop… you should try this app.

Sarah says:  Flipboard
For: iPad and iPhone
What does it do:
This app lets you connect to all your favourite social media accounts, blogs, websites and brings all the latest articles into the one app where the text and photos are presented in a snazzy magazine style. A magazine where you choose the content! I love opening it up and seeing a mix of my friend's photos from Facebook, latest design trends and local news for the day.

Lee says: Runkeeper
For: iPhone and Android
What does it do: This app tracks and logs all my training activity via GPS, it shows me distance, time, average speed, elevation, routes, maps and provides with KM splits. It also allows you to liaise with other users and create a street team for motivation.
